After being a patient there for over 6 years, we are never going back! The total lack of concern and compassion shown by the staff, nurses, and doctors is unbelievable. Never mind that I called from Japan and was left on hold for over 20 minutes.

My wife had a stroke in April. We called and they told us to go to the emergency room. Fair enough. We did just that. The hospital, the neuro-opthamologist, the Neurosurgeon, the labs, and the MRI and Cat scan center all sent reports back to Hoosick Falls Family Health Center (HFFHC) and Dr. Baker. You would think that after being a patient there for so long, that the doctor or nurse would have at least have called my wife. We have not had one word of communication from them.

Their lack of concern has now cost me a hospital bill in excess of $5000. I strongly urge anyone considering using this facility to find care elsewhere. We have!!!!

On Monday, my wife told me she wasn't feeling well, and that she had mild chest pains. I called Hoosick Falls Family Health Center (HFFHC) and asked if one of the doctors there could at least take a look at her, maybe do an EKG. They refused, told me to go to the emergency room, and then hung up on me in mid-sentence. This is how our primary care doctor has treated my wife. We are all done with them, their infighting and bickering in the office, and their total lack of concern for their patients.

From the receptionists, nurses (especially Kathy A) and of course the doctors, they are all great. Service is great, they are all friendly and knowledgeable and provide the best care possible. I personally see Dr. Charles Maggio, and although we do have some disagreements, I believe that he is an honest, intelligent and thorough doctor.

I ended up taking her to the emergency room, where she was admitted into the hospital. They performed numerous tests to rule out heart attack or other heart condition. She was discharged Tuesday afternoon. Upon her discharge, the cardiologist came to see her and told her that it was a shame we didn't go to our primary care doctor (Hoosick Family Medical Center) first, as it would have saved us trip to the ER and the hospital stay. He said that had we done so, they would have most likely diagnosed her with Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).

No problem with my primary care doctor other than not being able to see him if needed between annual visits. Recently called office and was put on hold for 15 min. before hanging up and trying again. This time got menu with option of making appointment only to be told "all secretaries are busy with other patients please leave detailed message and someone will call me back before the end of the day". Only after the beep it said something like not accepting messages and could not leave one if I wanted. So I tried this for 4 more times over an hour and same thing until trying the old "dial 0" trick which was not an option given but it worked. So of course I could not get to my doctor so took what I could get. Cut to end of appointment with new doctor, the doctor I saw ordered lab work X-rays and was to see me In one week for results. With out going in to details keep in mind that I saw this doctor instead of an ER and needed care for pain among other things. So while waiting for my next appointment, 7 days from first, I get an automated call on my machine moving it from tue. morning to wed. morning @ 8am , No problem, so I show up as asked @ 7:45 wait 15 min. literally standing in line @ reception for my turn. I go through another 10-15min. of checking in as it always a very slow process that is signing iPads, giving cards, etc... even though Ive been a patient for years. NOW THE KICKER! After all this another worker walks up to us and asks if I got her message and if I am rescheduling my appointment! I ask What? "I left a massage on your machine this morning that the doctor called in sick and could not see you today! (message left on machine 1/2 hour before appt.) . I could not believe it!, not only that, staff was not at all apologetic, or concerned with what it was I was even there for! So I have an option of waiting all morning and seeing yet another doctor or rescheduling again! Or... leaving the office and finding another place to take care of my health care needs. So thats what I did. Keep in mind this is only the straw that broke the camels back and a big one it is. While some of the staff care greatly others are short, abrasive, and do not at all care about the people they supposedly "serve".

My wife went in this afternoon to HFFHC as she already had an appointment. They went over her file and guess what...... they diagnosed her with Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) within 10 minutes of seeing her. Had they "gone out of their way" and given her 15 minutes last Monday, none of these expenses or troubles would have been necessary.

I am amazed at the inefficiency of the front desk, the lack of communication between the Doctors and Nurses at the nurses' station, and the lack of caring or concern for my own medical condition by the Doctor I saw 4 times in the last few months. I am sorely disappointed and shocked, really, at the way business at Hoosick Falls Family Center is conducted.

This place is a mess. The most incompetent group of people I have ever had the unfortunate experience of meeting. From forgetting to call me back after leaving repeated messages, to misreading charts and double immunizing my daughter. Finally, I had to speak with their office manager (more than once) just to get a half decent experience and appropriate care. I found myself avoiding important and necessary visits just to save myself the trouble. Do yourself a favor, and save yourself a headache by finding primary in Troy.

I certainly would recommend anyone in the area to use the Hoosick Falls Family Health Center!
